Mohammad Siraj Breaks Silence on Champions Trophy Snub, Responds to Rohit Sharma

Indian fast bowler Mohammad Siraj has finally spoken out after being dropped from Team India’s Champions Trophy 2025 squad. Despite his strong performances in ODIs, Siraj was left out, with captain Rohit Sharma citing his struggles with the old ball as the reason.
However, ahead of his new IPL journey with Gujarat Titans, Siraj has disagreed with Rohit’s reasoning, stating that his stats speak for themselves and prove his effectiveness with both new and old balls.
Siraj's Response to Rohit Sharma
During Gujarat Titans' press conference ahead of IPL 2025, Siraj addressed his omission from the Champions Trophy squad:
“Last year, I was among the top 10 bowlers in the world in terms of wickets with the old ball. My economy rate is also low. The figures speak for themselves. I have performed well with both the new and old ball.”
His statement comes after Rohit Sharma defended the selection decision, stating that Siraj’s impact lessens when he doesn’t bowl with the new ball.
Why Was Siraj Dropped?
Siraj has been out of Team India since the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, where he struggled to make an impact.
- He was then ignored for the T20 series against England, followed by his exclusion from ODIs.
- In the Champions Trophy squad, he was replaced by Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana.
Siraj Prepares for IPL 2025 with Gujarat Titans
After seven seasons with Royal Challengers Bangalore, Siraj was released before the mega auction.
- Gujarat Titans bought him for ₹12.25 crore, making him one of their key signings.
- He will be seen in action when Gujarat Titans face Punjab Kings on March 25.
With a point to prove, Siraj will look to make a strong comeback in IPL 2025.
