After the killer bowling of fast bowler Mohammed Shami (five wickets for 51 runs), India defeated Australia by five wickets in the first match of the three-match ODI series played in Mohali, based on the brilliant performance of the batsmen. On the basis of this performance, Shami has registered a big achievement in his name.

Shami has become the first Indian bowler in the last 16 years to take five wickets in ODI cricket on home soil. Earlier in the year 2007, fast bowler Zaheer Khan had taken five wickets in a single ODI match at home. Whereas Mohammed Shami has become the third bowler to take five wickets in an ODI against the Kangaroo team.

Before him, Kapil Dev and Ajit Agarkar had achieved this feat. Mohammed Shami has taken five wickets for the second time in his ODI career. With this, he has expressed his desire to make a place in the playing eleven of the World Cup.
