Shikhar Dhawan's brilliant career ends, says goodbye to cricket
Shikhar Dhawan has retired from international and domestic cricket. He gave this information through social media. On Saturday morning, 24 August, he shared a video in which he announced his retirement and thanked all the fans. While saying goodbye to cricket, he especially thanked his family, childhood coach, Team India and BCCI. Dhawan played his last match in international cricket on 10 December 2022 against Bangladesh in Chittagong. He could score only 3 runs in this match.
Shikhar Dhawan made his international debut in 2010 in an ODI against Australia. His debut match played in Visakhapatnam did not start well. He was out on the second ball of the inning without scoring any runs. After this, in 2011, he made his T20 International debut against West Indies. He made his Test debut against Australia in 2013. In his Test debut, Dhawan played a brilliant innings of 187 runs. However, after 14 years, he has now put an end to his cricket journey. While retiring, Dhawan said that he is at peace. Dhawan's career while playing for India was very impressive. He played many great innings for Team India. He made a very important contribution to the victory of the 2013 Champions Trophy. He was selected as the Player of the Tournament. Dhawan played a total of 269 matches for India, in which he scored 10867 runs.
Dhawan played 34 Test matches, scoring 2315 runs in 58 innings at an average of 40.61. He scored 6793 runs in 167 ODI matches at an average of 44.11 and 1759 runs in 68 T20 matches. Dhawan has scored 24 centuries and 55 half-centuries in his international career. He has 17 centuries and 39 half-centuries in ODIs. He has scored 7 centuries and 5 half-centuries in Tests. Dhawan has also scored 11 half-centuries in T20.
