Tejaswi Yadav was once the captain of Virat Kohli, then had to leave cricket due to this reason.
Team India's star batsman Virat Kohli and Bihar's former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav have a cricket connection that only a few people know about. This connection has now been revealed by Tejashwi Yadav himself. Almost everyone knows that before entering politics, Tejashwi was also a cricketer and had even played in the IPL, but that is not all. Tejashwi has revealed that when he was playing cricket, at one time Virat Kohli also played under his captaincy.
Tejashwi Yadav's cricket career started when his father and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Yadav was the Railway Minister in the Central Government. Tejashwi Yadav then entered Delhi cricket and was also a part of Delhi Daredevils in the first season of IPL in 2008. However, his cricket career ended in 2010, after which he entered politics.
34-year-old Tejaswi recently talked about his cricket career in an interview and complained that no one talks about the fact that he was also a cricketer. Tejaswi then talked about his connection with Kohli and said that he was Kohli's captain during his Delhi cricket days. Actually, both of them played cricket together in Delhi's Under-15 and Under-19 teams and during that time Tejaswi also captained the team for a time. Tejaswi had also told about this in a tweet about 10 years ago by sharing his old picture with Virat.
However, Tejaswi neither got a chance to play a single match in the IPL nor did he get a chance in Delhi's senior cricket team. After this, he joined Jharkhand Cricket Association and for this, he played a total of 7 matches in all three formats, in which only 37 runs came from his bat. Tejaswi said that his cricket career could not progress much because the ligaments of both his knees kept getting injured and then he had to quit cricket. He played his last match in 2010, in which he scored 5 runs and took 1 wicket.
Since leaving cricket, Tejashwi has been continuously active in Bihar politics and has emerged as the biggest leader of the party Rashtriya Janata Dal after his father Lalu, and mother Rabri Devi. During this time, he also became the youngest Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar and the youngest leader of the opposition in the Assembly. Assembly elections are to be held in Bihar next year, where he will again lead his party.
