Not a single ball has been bowled in the only Test match between Afghanistan and New Zealand. The players are still sitting in their hotel rooms. And, the reason for all this is rain. The first day of this Test match, which started on 9th September, was washed away by rain and there is suspense over how much play will be possible on the second day. However, the scene on the field on the second day was surprising. The trick that the groundsmen used to dry the field from the rain was a little different. For this, they dug up the wet parts of the midfield area. And, in its place, they were seen bringing dry parts from the net practice area and placing them there.

Groundsmen have tried different methods to dry the wet parts of the ground in the past as well. But, it has rarely been seen before as was seen in Greater Noida. Apart from digging the ground, the groundsmen were also seen using fans to dry the wet parts.

The entire first day's game in Greater Noida was also a victim of rain. Actually, due to rain, wet patches were formed at many places in the Greater Noida stadium. According to the information received, on the first day, the umpires inspected the ground a total of 6 times. Even the players came and inspected in between. But, the condition of the ground never seemed such that the game could be played on it.

Will the game be possible on the second day?

The situation on the second day of the Test match is not much different. The umpires will inspect the ground again at 3 pm, only after which it will be decided whether the game will start or not. And, if it does, then when will it start?

Since 2016, no matches under BCCI have been organized at Greater Noida Stadium. In 2017, BCCI banned this ground as a case of match-fixing had come to light during corporate matches.
