This Indian cricketer announced retirement and played the last test against New Zealand in Mumbai.
Just a few hours after Team India's clean sweep in the Test series against New Zealand, another big news came out. This news announced the retirement of India's wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha. The 40-year-old veteran cricketer decided to put an end to his 17-year career. He announced he would say goodbye to cricket after the current season of Ranji Trophy. In his 17-year career, Saha played domestic cricket for Bengal for 15 years and Tripura for 2 years.
Saha has described his cricket journey as wonderful. Saha, who played for Tripura in the last two Ranji seasons, returned to Bengal in August this year. According to what Saha said while announcing his retirement, he will play his last match in the current Ranji season.
Last test played against New Zealand in Mumbai
During his 17-year overall cricket career, Saha made his debut for Team India in 2010. He represented India in 40 Test matches. He also played 9 ODIs. Saha played his first Test against South Africa while he played his last Test match against New Zealand at Mumbai's Wankhede ground. Saha's ODI debut was against New Zealand.

Saha was out of the Indian team since the year 2021. During the South Africa tour, the then head coach Rahul Dravid and the team management had talked to him and told him that they are now looking and thinking beyond him.

Wriddhiman Saha represented 5 teams in IPL, out of which he last played for Gujarat Titans. Playing for 5 teams, he played 170 IPL matches, scoring 2934 runs with 1 century. Saha was not retained by Gujarat Titans for IPL 2025.
