A code has been seen in the latest beta version of the YouTube app, which shows that apart from the video quality, users will also be able to set the audio quality as per their choice. Currently only feature to adjust video quality

There is only an option to adjust the video quality on YouTube and it has no effect on the audio quality. This means that even if you are watching the video in high-quality, its audio quality will remain the same as set by the uploader and fixed by YouTube. If a user was watching the video at 144p, then also Opus 251 audio format is available and the audio format remains the same even at 1080p. For information, let us tell you that Opus is an audio coding format and 251 is the name of the codec option. It is equal to 48KHz audio at 128kbps bitrate. 

Users will get these three options of audio quality

In the new feature, the user will have three options to select the audio bitrate of the YouTube video. The first option will be Auto. It will adjust the audio quality according to the internet speed. The second option will be Normal. In this, standard audio quality will be available. The third option will be High. In this, better clarity will be available with higher bitrate option. However, according to the information so far, this feature will be available only to subscribers with premium subscription. Actually, the company wants to give more benefits to its premium subscribers. Therefore, the feature to select audio quality can be available only for paid users.
