People are receiving a fake SMS claiming to be from India Post. This SMS asks people to update their address. PIB Fact Check has clarified that any such SMS claiming to be from India Post is fake. His post reads, "Have you also received an SMS from @IndiaPostOffice informing you that your post has reached the depot and asking you to update your address within 48 hours or else the package will be sent back #PIBFactCheck Beware! This message is #Fake."

PIB Fact Check further said that India Post never sends such SMS to update addresses. Do not click on any such fake link.

What is this message?

The post says that your package is in the warehouse and they could not deliver it because the address is incomplete. This is a lie. Actually, they are trying to steal your information. Do not click on the link given in this message. Do not enter your information on any unknown website.

How to avoid this scam?

- Do not trust any message from an unknown number, especially if it asks you to hurry up.

- If a message claims to be from a well-known company, contact them directly by going to their website (not the one given in the message) or phone number.

- Do not click on any link given in the message. If you have to visit a website, type its address yourself.

- Do not give your password, bank account number, or other important information in any message.

- If you receive any suspicious message, report it immediately.
