Delhi is all set to witness a unique celebration of Russian culture on November 2, as one of Russia's oldest sacred music groups prepares to perform in the national capital. The joint choir of the Moscow Theological Academy and the Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra will present a special musical performance as part of the Russian Culture Days being organised in India.
The choir has a remarkable history dating back to 1337, making it one of the oldest musical traditions in Russia. Its performance is expected to offer Indian audiences an opportunity to experience the country's rich religious, musical and cultural heritage.
The programme will feature hymns composed by renowned Russian church musicians, traditional religious compositions, Russian folk music and patriotic songs. The diverse selection will highlight different aspects of Russia's musical traditions.
Special Exhibition to Be Inaugurated Alongside the Concert
Adding another attraction to the event, an exhibition titled "For the Peace of the Whole World" will also be inaugurated at the concert venue on November 2. The exhibition is being organised to mark the birth anniversary of Patriarch Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia.
The exhibition will provide visitors with an opportunity to learn more about the religious and cultural significance associated with the occasion.
Russian Embassy Officials to Share Details of the Event
A press conference has also been scheduled at the India Habitat Centre in Delhi on November 2 at 6:15 pm. The conference will provide insights into the choir's historical background, artistic objectives and the upcoming musical performance.
Senior representatives of the Russian Embassy in India will participate in the event. Hieromonk Nestor, Choirmaster of the Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra, and Professor K.G. Suresh, Director of the India Habitat Centre, will also be present.
The event is expected to strengthen cultural connections between India and Russia by bringing their artistic and cultural communities closer. Through traditional music, religious compositions and a special exhibition, the celebration will offer Delhi residents a glimpse into Russia's centuries-old cultural heritage.
