JSW MG Motor India has revised the pricing of the MG Windsor EV, bringing changes across both the standard purchase option and the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model. While several variants have become more expensive, customers opting for the BaaS plan will benefit from price reductions on select trims.
The latest revision means buyers will now need to compare both ownership options before making a purchase, as the total cost varies depending on whether the battery is purchased outright or subscribed to under the BaaS program.
Standard MG Windsor EV Prices Increased
The entry-level Excite variant, equipped with a 38kWh battery pack, has received the highest price hike. It is now priced at ₹14.70 lakh (ex-showroom) after an increase of ₹60,000.
The mid-spec Exclusive and top-spec Essence variants have also become more expensive. Both models have received a price increase of around ₹46,900, taking their ex-showroom prices to approximately ₹16 lakh and ₹17 lakh, respectively.
Pro Variants Also See Price Hike
Customers choosing the larger battery pack will also have to pay more.
- Exclusive Pro: Price increased by ₹51,900
- Essence Pro: Price increased by ₹39,900
These variants continue to offer a longer driving range but now come at a higher upfront cost.
BaaS Customers Get Relief on Select Variants
The revised pricing is more favourable for some buyers opting for the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model.
The company has reduced the prices of the:
- Exclusive BaaS by ₹13,100
- Essence BaaS by ₹13,100
This makes the subscription-based battery option more attractive for customers looking to lower the vehicle's initial purchase price.
However, buyers considering the Pro BaaS variants will also face a price increase, similar to the standard Pro models.
Battery Options and Driving Range
The MG Windsor EV is available with two battery pack choices:
- 38kWh battery pack – Claimed driving range of up to 332 km on a single charge.
- 52.9kWh battery pack – Claimed driving range of up to 449 km on a single charge.
These options allow buyers to choose a model based on their daily driving needs and budget.
Buyers Should Compare Both Ownership Options
With the latest price revision, the MG Windsor EV now offers two distinct ownership choices. Customers who prefer owning the battery may have to bear higher upfront costs, while those choosing the BaaS model could benefit from lower initial prices on select variants. Comparing the total ownership cost, driving requirements, and subscription charges can help buyers decide which option offers better value for their needs.
