Pensioners across India can now take advantage of a nationwide initiative designed to make life certificate submission easier. The Department of Pension and Pensioners' Welfare (DoPPW) is conducting its fifth Digital Life Certificate Campaign from November 1 to November 30, 2026.
The campaign will cover approximately 2,000 cities and districts and aims to generate 2.30 crore Digital Life Certificates. A major focus is on face authentication technology, which allows eligible pensioners to submit their life certificates using a smartphone instead of making repeated visits to banks or government offices.
What Is the Digital Life Certificate Campaign 2026?
The Digital Life Certificate Campaign, also known as DLC Campaign 5, is a government initiative to simplify the annual life certificate submission process for pensioners.
Under the initiative, government departments, banks, India Post Payments Bank, pensioners' associations and other organisations are working together to help pensioners complete the process.
The campaign has set a target of generating 2.30 crore certificates, including 1.50 crore through face authentication.
The government is also organising special camps, offering health check-ups and Aadhaar update facilities, and arranging doorstep services for pensioners who cannot travel easily.
How to Submit a Digital Life Certificate Using Your Smartphone
One of the biggest advantages of the initiative is that pensioners can generate their life certificates from home using the Jeevan Pramaan Face Authentication application.
Here is how the process works:
-
Download the official Jeevan Pramaan application from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
-
Install the AadhaarFaceRD application required for face authentication.
-
Open Jeevan Pramaan and complete the operator authentication process.
-
Enter the pensioner's Aadhaar number and other required personal details.
-
Provide pension-related information, including the Pension Payment Order (PPO) number and pension-disbursing bank details.
-
Follow the instructions to capture the pensioner's face using the smartphone camera.
-
Complete the authentication process and submit the application.
-
After successful verification, a Digital Life Certificate is generated with a Pramaan ID.
Pensioners can use this ID to access and download their certificate from the official Jeevan Pramaan website.
Is a Fingerprint Scanner Required?
No. The face authentication facility uses the smartphone's front camera to verify the pensioner's identity.
This means users do not need to purchase an external fingerprint scanner or iris scanner when using the supported face authentication application.
According to the official Jeevan Pramaan portal, the current application supports Android 10 or later and iOS 14 or later. The AadhaarFaceRD application must also be installed.
What If a Pensioner Cannot Complete the Process at Home?
The government has made arrangements for pensioners who are unable to use smartphones independently.
They can visit participating bank branches, post offices, pension offices and designated Digital Life Certificate camps for assistance.
Doorstep services are also being arranged through banks, India Post and Gramin Dak Sevaks for elderly, sick and differently abled pensioners who cannot travel.
The campaign also includes grievance officers to help resolve problems related to Digital Life Certificate submission.
Does a Digital Life Certificate Remain Valid Forever?
No. A Digital Life Certificate does not remain valid for life.
Its validity depends on the rules prescribed by the concerned Pension Sanctioning Authority. Pensioners must generate a fresh certificate when the existing certificate's validity period expires.
The certificate is electronically stored and made available to the pension-disbursing agency, reducing the need for physical submission.
Important Things Pensioners Should Keep Ready
Before starting the process, pensioners should keep the following information available:
-
Aadhaar number
-
Pension Payment Order (PPO) number
-
Bank account and pension-disbursing bank details
-
Registered mobile number
-
Smartphone with a working front camera
-
Internet connectivity for completing the digital process
Pensioners should download the applications only from official app stores and use the government portal, jeevanpramaan.gov.in, for information and certificate-related services.
Why Is This Campaign Important for Senior Citizens?
For many elderly pensioners, visiting a bank or government office every year to submit a life certificate can be difficult. The face authentication facility reduces this inconvenience by allowing eligible pensioners to complete the process using a smartphone.
The fifth nationwide campaign aims to make this facility accessible across approximately 2,000 locations, including remote areas.
With digital submission, doorstep assistance and dedicated camps, the government is attempting to make pension-related services more convenient for senior citizens across India.
