4,000 names will be excluded from the PM Kisan scheme; the government will verify documents. What is the reason?

Beneficiary verification under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme has begun, and two ineligible groups have been identified after mandatory KYC procedures were implemented. This includes approximately 2,750 cases where both husband and wife are benefiting from the scheme, as well as individuals who have purchased property. Once the verification is complete, all these ineligible beneficiaries will be removed from the scheme's list.

According to Deputy Director of Agriculture Vinay Kaushal, the list of suspicious names is being verified at the Nyaya Panchayat level. The Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme launched on February 2, 2019. 4,000 suspicious names were found on the Kisan Samman Nidhi list. It has been learned that some property purchasers are also included in the verification process.

Verification of suspicious information is underway
Farmers who acquired land by purchase or inheritance by the cut-off date was considered eligible for the scheme and was made beneficiaries based on their applications. Under this scheme, they receive Rs 2,000 every four months. Therefore, only new farmers who inherited land after February 2, 2019, were considered eligible. Farmers who purchased land after February 2, 2019, also applied and were eligible.

Many ineligible individuals were included, numerous irregularities were found, and in some cases, both husband and wife received benefits. Consequently, the application process has been halted. These irregularities have deprived genuinely eligible beneficiaries of benefits. Taking note of this issue, the central government has directed all districts to verify suspicious information.
