An important update has emerged regarding the Eighth Pay Commission. The commission is currently traveling to various regions to speak with employee organizations and stakeholders. Today, October 7th, it will meet in Bengaluru, Karnataka. This meeting will provide recommendations regarding changes in employee salaries and pensions.
Employees are paying particular attention to the fitment factor in the Eighth Pay Commission, as the new basic salary can only be determined based on the fitment factor. However, no final figure has been finalized at this time.
What are the demands of employee organizations?
The central employee union NC-JCM has demanded a fitment factor of 3.833. If this demand is accepted, the basic salary of Rs 18,000 in the Seventh Pay Commission could increase to Rs 69,000. Some organizations, including AIDEF, FNPO, and AINPSEF, have also supported this demand. Meanwhile, IRTSA has demanded a fitment factor of up to 5.0 for different pay levels.
Meanwhile, according to AINPSEF National President Manjit Singh Patel, a fitment factor of 2.1 is being suggested, taking into account the current dearness allowance and other salary factors. However, the final decision will be clear only after a government notification.
