Aakash Chopra Questions Lord’s WTC Final Pitch: When Was Last Time This Happened in England?

In the ICC World Test Championship 2025 final at Lord’s, a remarkable 28 wickets have fallen in just the first two days of play. Australia was all out for 212 in the first innings, South Africa collapsed for 138, and Australia is currently 144/8 in their second innings, leading by 218 runs.

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra expressed surprise and concern over the pitch conditions. Sharing a video on social media, he said,
"If this happened in India, Western media would heavily criticize the pitch, questioning the quality and blaming India for ruining Test cricket. But when it happens in England, it’s called a ‘sporting pitch’."

He further noted that if batsmen’s defensive techniques are deteriorating, that criticism should apply everywhere, including England.

The third day is expected to be crucial, with South Africa aiming to bowl Australia out quickly and chase the target. Both teams’ bowlers have bowled exceptionally well so far, making batting a tough challenge.
