Amul Milk Price Hike:  The price of Amul milk has been increased by Rs 2 per liter across the country. This increase in price has come into effect from Thursday i.e. today. Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which owns the popular dairy brand Amul, announced this on Wednesday.

A day earlier, Mother Dairy, a milk and dairy products retailer in the national capital, had announced a hike in milk prices by up to Rs 2 per liter from Wednesday, citing increased procurement costs. GCMMF said in a statement that the increase of Rs 2 per liter would be equivalent to a three-four percent increase in the MRP (maximum retail price) of milk products, which is much lower than the average food inflation.

What did Amul say?

The federation, based in Anand, Gujarat, markets dairy products under the 'Amul' brand. The federation said that it has not increased the prices of fresh milk in pouches since June 2024. The statement said, 'This price increase is being done due to the increase in the cost of production of milk for our 36 lakh milk producers. Our member unions have also increased the prices for farmers in the same proportion in the last one year.'
