After ODI Retirement, Marcus Stoinis Blazes in MLC Debut with Strike Rate of 233, Hits Most Sixes for Texas Super Kings

After retiring from ODI cricket in February 2025, Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis made a sensational debut in Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 for Texas Super Kings. His explosive innings showcased his power-hitting prowess as he struck at an incredible rate of 233.33, smashing the highest number of sixes for his team in the match.

Stoinis’ ODI Retirement and MLC Debut

Marcus Stoinis surprised cricket fans by retiring from ODI cricket earlier this year but wasted no time making an impact in MLC. He debuted against Seattle Orcas in a high-pressure match where Texas batted first.

The Texas innings started poorly, losing both openers cheaply at 26 runs. A steady half-century partnership between Saitje and Daryl Mitchell followed. After their dismissal, Stoinis walked in to bat and immediately turned the momentum with his attacking style.

Blazing Knock at a 233 Strike Rate

Stoinis scored 28 runs off just 12 balls, including 4 towering sixes — the most by any Texas batsman in that innings. His aggressive approach gave Texas the momentum needed to post a competitive total.

Supporting the late surge were Milind Kumar (18* off 13 balls) and Shubham Ranjane (15* off 8 balls), who kept up the momentum in the lower order.

Texas Super Kings Score 153/6

Thanks to Stoinis’ fiery innings, Texas Super Kings finished their innings at 153 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs. Only Saiteja outscored him with 30 runs, making it a solid team effort boosted by Stoinis’ explosive debut performance.
