Ahmedabad Plane Crash: Doctors Bhavesh Seth and Tashkeen Syed Succumb to Injuries, Death Toll Rises

The tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad has claimed two more lives—Dr. Bhavesh Seth and Dr. Tashkeen Syed—both young doctors from BJ Medical College who were critically injured in the incident. Despite being in intensive care and receiving round-the-clock treatment, both succumbed to their injuries on Tuesday, adding to the growing list of victims in one of the deadliest aviation tragedies in recent memory.

Dr. Bhavesh Seth, a native of Surat and part of the 2019 MBBS batch, was among those seriously injured when the plane collided with the medical college premises. After battling for life in the ICU, he passed away late Tuesday. Similarly, Dr. Tashkeen Syed, a student from the 2018 batch and a resident of Ahmedabad, also lost her life due to severe injuries.

The crash, which involved an Air India flight from Ahmedabad to London, occurred shortly after takeoff. The aircraft, carrying 242 passengers, rapidly lost altitude and crashed into the BJ Medical College campus, specifically near the students' hostel where many were gathered in the mess hall. The horrific impact resulted in a massive explosion and widespread destruction.

So far, officials from the Indian Medical Association (IMA) have confirmed the deaths of 6 doctors and 4 medical students in the crash. Among the deceased doctors are Dr. Himanshu Seth and Dr. Hitesh Shah from Surat, in addition to Dr. Bhavesh Seth and Dr. Tashkeen Syed. Four medical students—Manav Bhadu, Jaiprakash Chaudhary, Aryan Rajput, and Rakesh Dihora—also lost their lives in the tragedy.

In memory of the deceased, the IMA and the Ahmedabad Medical Association (AMA) organized a prayer meet on Tuesday at 5 PM at the AMA office on Ashram Road, Ahmedabad.

According to the latest reports, 241 passengers on the plane died, and only one passenger survived the crash. The combined death toll, including victims from the college premises, now stands at 265. Several others remain hospitalized with serious injuries.

This devastating accident has not only shaken the aviation sector but also left the medical community in deep mourning, with young lives—on the cusp of saving others—cut tragically short.
