The year 2025 has emerged as a landmark year for Apple in India, with the company recording its highest-ever iPhone shipments in the country. Despite the Indian smartphone market witnessing largely flat growth, Apple continued to gain momentum, shipping an estimated 14 million iPhones during the year. Growing consumer demand and increased local manufacturing have been key drivers behind this success.
iPhone Shipments See Sharp Growth
According to market data cited from Counterpoint Research, iPhone shipments in India are expected to reach nearly 14 million units in 2025, marking a substantial jump from previous years. This growth is likely to push Apple’s market share to a record 9 percent, up from around 7 percent in 2024. The performance makes 2025 Apple’s strongest year yet in the world’s second-largest smartphone market.
What’s Driving Apple’s Growth in India
Industry analysts attribute Apple’s rising dominance to multiple factors. The company now offers a wide-ranging portfolio, spanning the iPhone 17 series, iPhone 16 lineup, and the more affordable iPhone 16e. Improved availability through both online and offline retail channels has further strengthened reach.
In addition, aggressive financing options, including no-cost EMIs, exchange offers, and bank discounts, have made premium iPhones more accessible to Indian consumers, significantly boosting demand.
Local Manufacturing Plays a Crucial Role
Even as the broader smartphone market remains stable, Apple continues to expand its manufacturing footprint in India as part of its China-plus-one strategy. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav recently revealed that the cumulative value of iPhones manufactured in India has crossed $50 billion (approximately ₹4.51 lakh crore).
Under the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, Apple’s contract manufacturers—led by Foxconn—exported iPhones worth nearly $16 billion in the first nine months of FY26, highlighting India’s growing importance in Apple’s global supply chain.
India Becomes a Strategic Market for Apple
With rising shipments, increasing exports, and expanding local production, India is no longer just a high-growth market for Apple—it is fast becoming a strategic manufacturing and sales hub, setting the stage for even stronger growth in the coming years.
