Asia Cup 2025: Suryakumar Yadav Cleared by ICC, Pakistan Players Face Hearing

Team India captain Suryakumar Yadav has been cleared of wrongdoing by the International Cricket Council (ICC) after a complaint from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The matter arose following India’s victory over Pakistan on September 14, 2025, when Yadav expressed condolences to the victims of the Pahalgam terrorist attack and dedicated the win to the Indian Army involved in Operation Sindoor. The PCB alleged that his statement was politically motivated.

ICC Hearing and Decision
Yadav appeared before match referee Richie Richardson on September 25, accompanied by BCCI officials Hemang Amin and Samar Mallapurkar. He pleaded not guilty, emphasizing that his statement had no political intent. The ICC reminded him to avoid comments that could be interpreted politically. As the matter falls under a Level 1 offense of the ICC Code of Conduct, Yadav received only a warning, with no fines imposed.

Upcoming Hearing for Pakistani Players
Meanwhile, two Pakistani players, Sahibzada Farhan and Haris Rauf, face a separate ICC hearing scheduled for September 26. Both players have been accused of misconduct during the India-Pakistan Super Four match. If found guilty, they could face significant penalties, potentially impacting Pakistan’s lineup ahead of the Asia Cup final against India on September 28.
