India continued its strong start at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya with another impressive morning in shooting. Himanshu Dhillon and Rudrankksh Patil won silver and bronze respectively in the men's 10m air rifle individual event, adding to India's medal haul on September 21.

The two shooters had already contributed to India's silver medal in the men's 10m air rifle team event earlier in the day, alongside Parth Mane. The Indian trio finished with 1890.1 points, behind China's 1899.0.

Himanshu Dhillon Wins Silver

Himanshu Dhillon produced a strong performance in the individual final to finish second with 252.4 points.

China's Sheng Lihao claimed gold with 254.2 points, while Rudrankksh Patil secured bronze with 230.9 points.

For Himanshu and Rudrankksh, it was an especially productive morning after both had already stood on the podium in the team competition.

Rudrankksh Patil Adds Another Medal

Rudrankksh Patil finished third in the individual final, giving India another podium finish in shooting.

The bronze also adds to his Asian Games record. He was part of India's gold-medal-winning men's 10m air rifle team at the Hangzhou Asian Games.

India’s Shooting Campaign Continues to Deliver

India had already won two silver medals in women's 10m air rifle on the opening day, with Elavenil Valarivan winning individual and team silver. The men's team silver and the two individual medals on September 21 have taken India's shooting medal tally to five.

India Defeats Pakistan in Women’s Table Tennis

India also made a strong start in women's team table tennis, defeating Pakistan 3-0 to advance to the knockout stage.

The result added to a busy morning for the Indian contingent, with athletes competing across several sports.

Srihari Nataraj Reaches Swimming Final

Indian swimmer Srihari Nataraj qualified for the men's 50m backstroke final.

His final is scheduled for later on September 21, giving India another opportunity to add to its medal tally.

India Also Wins in Soft Tennis

The Indian pair of Aadhya Tiwari and Jai Meena began their soft tennis campaign with victories in the group stage.

They defeated Cambodia and later Mongolia, before their next group-stage contest against South Korea.

Suchika Tariyal Wins MMA Bronze

India also secured a medal in mixed martial arts. Suchika Tariyal won bronze in the women's 60kg category after her semifinal campaign.

The achievement is particularly notable because MMA is making its debut at the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya.

India’s Busy Day Continues

India has athletes competing across shooting, swimming, hockey, kabaddi, badminton, boxing, wushu and sepak takraw on September 21.

With multiple events still remaining, the second day of the Asian Games continues to be an important one for India's medal campaign. The shooting contingent has already provided a major boost, with five medals now coming from the sport alone.
