Pakistan batsman Babar Azam has achieved a special milestone in the World Test Championship. He has become the first Asian player to score 3,000 runs in the World Test Championship. He achieved this feat by scoring 23 runs in the first innings of the first Test against South Africa. With this remarkable record, Babar surpassed legends like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who hadn't achieved this feat.

He now has a total of 3,021 runs in the World Test Championship. The World Test Championship began in 2019 with the Ashes series between Australia and England. Babar Azam is eighth on the list of highest run-scorers in World Test Championship history. The list is topped by England's Joe Root, who has scored 6,080 runs in 69 matches.
Virat and Rohit could not score 3000 runs due to retirement.
Babar Azam's 3,021 runs have been accomplished in 37 Test matches and 67 innings. During this period, he has scored eight centuries and 18 half-centuries. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma has scored 2,716 runs in 40 World Test Championship matches, while Virat Kohli has scored 2,617 runs in 46 matches. It's worth noting that both Rohit and Virat announced their retirement from Test cricket this year.
The top five run-scorers in World Test Championship history are Joe Root (6,080 runs), Steve Smith (4,278 runs), Marnus Labuschagne (4,225 runs), Ben Stokes (3,616 runs), and Travis Head (3,300 runs). India's leading run-scorer in the World Test Championship is captain Shubman Gill, who has scored 2,826 runs in 39 matches.
