Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) faces increasing troubles following the tragic stampede during their victory parade, which claimed 11 lives. Amid the ongoing investigation, police have arrested Nikhil Sosle, RCB’s marketing head at Diageo India and a close aide of Virat Kohli, from Bangalore airport as he was attempting to fly to Mumbai. He is currently being questioned about the incident.
Alongside Nikhil, Sunil Mathew from the event management firm DNA Entertainment, which handled the parade, has also been arrested. Meanwhile, Karnataka Cricket Association officials Shankar and Jayaram remain absconding.
Nikhil Sosle has been a key figure in RCB’s branding since 2008. His wife, Malvika Nayak, a business partner and friend of Anushka Sharma, has been seen supporting RCB alongside the celebrity couple.
Following the tragedy, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah held the police accountable, leading to suspensions of several officials and appointment of IPS officer Seemant Kumar Singh as the new Bangalore police commissioner. The investigation is ongoing as authorities seek clarity on the causes of the stampede.
