Bareilly Horrific Incident: Five Monkeys Beaten to Death, Outcry Among Residents

A brutal act of animal cruelty has sparked outrage in Bareilly, where five monkeys were reportedly beaten to death in the Chawal Mandi area under the Kila police station. The horrific discovery on Monday has led to widespread anger among residents and animal welfare activists.

Upon receiving information, local police, along with members of the People for Animals (PFA) organization, promptly arrived at the scene. The bodies of the deceased monkeys were taken into custody and sent to the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI) for post-mortem examination.

The post-mortem report conclusively revealed that the monkeys were not poisoned. Instead, their bodies bore severe injury marks, including broken bones and extensive damage to internal organs, confirming they were subjected to a brutal physical assault.

This tragic incident follows a period where the increasing monkey population in Kila Chawal Mandi had become a point of contention. Traders and local residents had frequently complained about monkeys causing damage to their businesses.

Discovery and Initial Rumors

On Monday afternoon, reports emerged that four to five monkeys were found unconscious behind a grain merchant's shop. This quickly led to rumors that the monkeys had been poisoned. As news spread, a crowd of local traders gathered at the spot, and the police were informed.

The police from Kila Thana, along with PFA team members Dheeraj Pathak, Archit Mishra, Suraj Mishra, Akash Parashari, and Akhilesh Mishra, worked together to remove the monkey carcasses. Four monkeys were found dead on the spot, while another succumbed to its injuries shortly after. A team from the Forest Department also arrived upon receiving the information.

IVRI Confirms Brutality

Doctors at IVRI confirmed that no traces of poison were found in the post-mortem examinations. They stated that the monkeys suffered from severe external and internal injuries, indicating they were deliberately beaten to death.

PFA activist Dheeraj Pathak has filed a complaint with the police, condemning the act and demanding strict action against the perpetrators. The incident has caused a significant stir in the Kila police station area. Inspector Rajesh Kumar reiterated that the post-mortem report disproves poisoning and confirms the severe beating.

Authorities are now scanning CCTV footage from the vicinity and questioning local residents to identify those responsible for this heinous act. The motive behind the killings remains unclear, but this incident has become a major topic of discussion across the city.
