BCCI on Mustafizur Rahman: The Board of Control for Cricket in India has asked Kolkata Knight Riders to release Bangladeshi fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman from their squad, Board Secretary Devjit Saikia confirmed to ANI. This debate became a major topic of discussion in the Indian cricket world after the tragic murder of a Hindu man in Bangladesh, which created tensions across the border. But now it has come to light that the BCCI has told KKR to drop Mustafizur Rahman from the team. This means that Mustafizur Rahman will not be a part of IPL 2026.

BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia said, "In view of the recent developments, the BCCI has directed the KKR franchise to release Mustafizur Rahman from their squad. The BCCI also stated that "if they request a replacement, the BCCI will allow that replacement."

Mustafizur Rahman is one of Bangladesh's best fast bowlers and plays in leagues around the world. He has been playing in the IPL since 2016. So far, the Bangladeshi player has played for Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, and CSK. He has taken 65 wickets in 60 IPL matches. It's worth noting that KKR acquired Mustafizur Rahman for a whopping ₹9.20 crore in the recent IPL 2026 auction.
