Bigg Boss 19: Hina Khan supports Ashnoor Kaur over body shaming; fans remind her of calling Shilpa Shinde a ‘buffalo’ in BB11

The latest season of Bigg Boss 19 continues to stir controversy. In a recent episode, contestants Tanya Mittal, Neelam Giri, and Kunika Sadanandan made body-shaming remarks against young actress Ashnoor Kaur. The incident sparked massive outrage among viewers and celebrities alike.

Actress Hina Khan, runner-up of Bigg Boss 11, also voiced her opinion on the issue. Taking to Facebook, she condemned the contestants’ behavior and appreciated host Salman Khan for addressing the matter. Hina wrote that commenting on someone’s body is a serious mistake that cannot be excused and expressed her full support for Ashnoor Kaur.

However, her post didn’t go down well with everyone. Soon after, social media users began trolling Hina Khan for what they called “double standards.” Netizens reminded her of her own infamous fight with Shilpa Shinde during Bigg Boss 11, where she was seen mocking and body-shaming Shilpa by calling her a “buffalo.”

One user wrote, “The same Hina Khan who’s now preaching against body shaming—will she ever apologize for what she said to Shilpa Shinde back then?” The hashtag #TanyaMittal and #BB19 began trending as users shared old clips from Bigg Boss 11 showing Hina’s comments.

The controversy reignited after a viral clip from the current season showed Ashnoor tearfully confessing to her friend Abhishek Bajaj that she once used to induce vomiting out of fear of gaining weight. The emotional moment drew empathy from fans, and Salman Khan took strict action during Weekend Ka Vaar, scolding Tanya, Neelam, and Kunika for their behavior.

Hina Khan applauded Salman’s stance, saying such issues should never be ignored and that body shaming can deeply affect one’s mental health—especially for a young contestant like Ashnoor. But while her statement earned praise from some, others called it ironic, accusing her of forgetting her own past behavior in Bigg Boss 11.
