German two-wheeler giant BMW Motorrad is all set to launch its much-anticipated adventure bike, the BMW F 450 GS, in India on April 23. This model marks a significant step for the brand as it enters the fast-growing sub-500cc twin-cylinder segment.
The upcoming F 450 GS will be manufactured in India in partnership with TVS Motor Company, continuing the successful collaboration seen earlier with the G 310 series. The new bike is expected to replace the discontinued G 310 GS and offer improved performance and touring capability.
Engine and Performance
The BMW F 450 GS will be powered by a new 420cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine. It is expected to produce 48 bhp at 8,750 rpm and 43 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm. The engine will be paired with a 6-speed gearbox and come equipped with a slipper clutch and bi-directional quickshifter, ensuring smoother gear shifts and enhanced riding performance.
Chassis and Hardware
The bike will feature a trellis frame, offering a strong yet lightweight structure. Suspension duties will be handled by upside-down front forks and a rear monoshock with 180 mm of travel, making it suitable for both city roads and light off-road adventures. Weighing around 175 kg, the F 450 GS remains relatively light for its category. It will ride on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels fitted with dual-purpose tyres.
Expected Price and Competition
The BMW F 450 GS is expected to be priced between ₹4 lakh and ₹4.5 lakh (ex-showroom), placing it in the premium segment. Once launched, it will directly compete with established models such as the KTM 390 Adventure and the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450.
