BPL 2026 Auction: Seven players dropped from draft over major match-fixing allegations

The auction for the 2026 season of the Bangladesh Premier League is set to take place soon, but just a day before the event, seven players have been removed from the draft list. All seven are reportedly under investigation for serious match-fixing allegations.

Seven players excluded from the auction
Among the excluded names are two well-known Bangladeshi players. Anamul Haque Bijoy, Mosaddek Hossain, Shofiul Islam, Alauddin Babu, Sunzamul Islam, Mizanur Rahman, and Nihaduzzaman have all been left out of the BPL auction pool.

Earlier warning from BCB
The Bangladesh Cricket Board had already hinted that around ten players were under scrutiny in its red-zone list, and they might be removed from the Dhaka auction. The action now confirms the board’s tough stance against corruption in cricket.

Big setback for Anamul Haque Bijoy
The exclusion of Anamul Haque Bijoy is particularly significant, as he is one of the country’s most experienced domestic performers. He has represented Bangladesh in 8 Tests, 49 ODIs, and 20 T20 Internationals.

Strong record in BPL
In the Bangladesh Premier League, Bijoy has been a consistent performer. He has scored 2,776 runs in 131 matches, including one century and 16 half-centuries. His omission is expected to have a notable impact on the tournament.
