CBSE CTET 2026 Announced: Exam on February 8, to Be Held in 132 Cities Across India

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially announced the dates for the next Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET). According to the notification issued on October 24, the CTET 2026 (December 2025 session) will now be conducted on February 8, 2026.

Previously, the CTET (December 2024 session) was held on December 14, 2024. With this new schedule, CBSE has also hinted at a change in its exam calendar — possibly holding the CTET only once a year.

CTET 2026: Exam to Be Conducted in 132 Cities and 20 Languages
The CBSE has confirmed that the 21st edition of CTET will take place in 132 cities across India and will be conducted in 20 different languages. Both Paper 1 and Paper 2 will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2026.

Application Process to Be Completely Online
Candidates who wish to appear for the exam will need to apply online through the official website, ctet.nic.in. CBSE will soon release a detailed information bulletin containing important details such as:

  • Exam syllabus and structure

  • List of exam cities

  • Eligibility criteria

  • Fee details

  • Schedule and important dates

CBSE has advised candidates to download the bulletin only from the official website and read it thoroughly before submitting their applications.

Will CTET Be Held Only Once a Year Now?
Earlier, CBSE conducted CTET twice a year — in June and December. However, after the December 2024 exam, the June 2025 session was skipped, and the December 2025 session has been pushed to February 2026.

This has raised speculation that CBSE may now conduct CTET only once a year, though no official confirmation has been made yet.
