Albert Au, head of the Communicable Diseases Branch of Hong Kong's Centre for Health Protection, said that the virus has spread rapidly there. According to official figures, in the week ending on May 3, 31 serious cases of Covid were reported in Hong Kong, including deaths. This is the highest figure in the last one year. Covid positive cases in respiratory sample tests have also reached the highest level in a year

The number of people admitted to the hospital also increased

The situation in Singapore is also worrying. There, the number of Covid cases increased by 28% in the week ending on May 3. Compared to the previous week, 14,200 new cases were reported, which is the highest in a year. Singapore now only reveals Covid figures when there is a big increase in cases. The Health Ministry there says that cases are increasing due to people's low immunity. However, the matter of relief is that the current variants are not as dangerous or fast-spreading as before.

The situation can worsen in China too

The situation can worsen in China too. According to data from the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, there could be a Covid wave as bad as last year. People need to be cautious.
