Crime: Obscene pictures of a woman went viral on social media, first by befriending her, then by making a private video

Police have arrested a man accused of defaming a woman's family by posting obscene photos and videos of her on social media due to a love dispute. The action was taken in Hingoli around 10 pm on Friday (April 10). The accused was produced in court and remanded to three days of police custody.

According to Senior Police Inspector Rajendra Panhale, a 37-year-old woman filed a complaint at the Loni Kalbhor police station. According to the complaint, Sunil Ramprasad Mutkule (resident of Akole, Tal. Sangamner, District. Ahilyanagar) has been arrested.

According to police, the victim earns her living by making chapatis at a hotel, and her husband is a four-wheeler driver. In 2017, while working at the hotel, she met the accused, Mutkule. This acquaintance later developed into a love affair. Although the accused returned to his village after some time, the two continued to communicate by phone. In 2021, after a quarrel with her husband, the victim moved to the accused's home in Sambhajinagar. She lived with him for approximately four years.

During this time, the accused took private photos and videos without her permission. Meanwhile, fed up with the accused's harassment, the victim returned to her husband in February 2026. The accused then used social media to take revenge, creating five to six fake Instagram accounts and circulating her obscene photos and videos. These photos were also sent to her relatives through various fake IDs. This incident caused significant disrepute to the victim and her family. Initially, the victim was hesitant to file a complaint due to fear of defamation. However, as the incident escalated, she finally filed a complaint at the Loni Kalbhor police station. A case was subsequently registered. Upon registration, the police traced the accused's location based on technical investigation and arrested him in Hingoli. After being produced in court, the accused was remanded to three-day police custody. The action was carried out by Senior Police Inspector Rajendra Panhale, Assistant Police Inspector Ankush Borate, Police Sub-Inspector Digambar Sontakke, Police Constables Anna Mane, Ganesh Shinde, Amol Jadhav, Sagar Kadam, Ganesh Kharat, Sagar Dhayatonde, Ashok Giri and their colleagues.
