Impact of Social Media Reels on Tourism: Nowadays everyone is active on social media. Be it Facebook, YouTube, or Instagram, you will find travel reels everywhere. In these reels, travel influencers are seen touring beautiful mountains and having fun on the beach somewhere, these reels attract people so much that they also start planning to travel after seeing them. But is this the right way to travel? Why should one avoid such reels?
Incomplete information can cause harm.
Reels are 30 to 60 seconds on many clips that play quickly and captivate the mind but this few-second video does not give complete information. Just seeing a good and beautiful location and going out to visit there is not wise. If you want to visit that place after seeing the reel, then do your research. Collect complete information about that place. How to get there, what is the weather like, what is the atmosphere like, how far is the hotel to stay, how much will it cost? When you get all this information, then only plan to visit that place.
Stay away from show-off.
The reels that look beautiful on social media may not necessarily be that beautiful in reality. Most reels are very different from the truth. The people who make these reels shoot that location from different angles and use many types of filters while editing it so that it looks beautiful. At the same time, nowadays many images are created with the help of artificial intelligence which looks no less than a fairy tale story. One should not go by the show-off of these reels. The purpose of the people who make these reels is to earn money from likes, views, and shares. In such a situation, if a person books a train, flight, or hotel by looking at the location without thinking, then it is a waste of time and money.
Understand marketing
The influencers who are creating the content of reels on social media can be a part of marketing. Many companies pay them a good amount to promote that place. Most hotels, restaurants, and tourist attraction locations are a part of it. Common people are unable to understand this marketing and get emotional after listening to creative reels, slow motion, and background music. Doing this is a big mistake.
The crowd increases when the reel goes viral.
Due to the increasing infiltration of social media in life, nowadays many reels go viral overnight and people get so impressed after seeing a travel reel that they start reaching that location. Neem Karoli Baba's Ashram, Spiti, Leh, Chail, Mashobra, and Jibhi are some such locations that became popular after the reel went viral. Whenever this happens, a huge crowd of people suddenly gathers at these places, which spoils the beauty of the place and affects the peace. Local people start getting disturbed due to increasing dirt and pollution.
