Driving License: How to get a learning license from home? What documents are required? Learn the complete process

Drivers are required to have a license while driving on the road. If you don't have one, you may face a fine. However, to obtain a license, you need to obtain permission from the RTO office. Because this process takes several days, many people forget to apply for a license. But now you don't need to go to the RTO office for a license. You can apply for a learning license online from the comfort of your home.

How to Apply Online
First, you need to visit the Transport Department's official website. Once the website opens, go to the 'Online Services' section and click on 'Driving License Related Services.'

You'll need to select your state. Each state's RTO system works differently. After selecting your state, you'll see several options, from which you'll need to select the "Apply for a Learner's License" option.

Next, confirm whether you already have a driving or learning license. Then, select your category, such as two-wheeler or four-wheeler. It's important to complete this step correctly, as the rest of the process depends on it. Any mistakes could cause problems later.

The process from filling out the form to taking the test
is now a little more detailed. Here, you can proceed without entering your Aadhaar card or Aadhaar number. If your Aadhaar is not linked, most of your details are automatically filled in, saving time. Next, you'll need to fill out an online form, including your personal details, address, and other necessary information. After submitting the form, you'll need to pay the fee online.

After paying, you'll need to book a slot based on traffic rules and signs. You'll also need to take an online test. This test isn't difficult, but basic knowledge is required. If you pass the test, your learner's license is generated, and you can download it online.

What documents are required?
You'll need to submit several documents, including proof of age and proof of address. In some cases, a medical certificate may also be required. You'll also need to upload a passport-sized photo. Using your Aadhaar card reduces the need for multiple documents.
