Ducati, the global superbike manufacturer, has issued a recall for two of its models in India—the Panigale V4 and Streetfighter V4—due to a rear axle defect. The company discovered the issue could potentially compromise rider safety and has acted swiftly to inspect and replace the affected components.
Impact in India
In India, 393 units manufactured between 2018 and 2025 are affected. Ducati India is contacting owners directly to provide free replacement of the rear wheel shafts, ensuring the bikes are safe to ride.
Global Scope
This defect is not limited to India. Ducati North America has recalled over 10,000 units worldwide. According to documents submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 11 cases of axle failure have been reported globally. Interestingly, no incidents have been reported in the United States so far.
Cause of the Defect
While Ducati has not officially disclosed the exact cause, the issue is believed to be related to mileage or torque problems on the rear axle, often occurring during wheel or chain adjustments.
Customer Advisory
Ducati has assured that all affected bike owners will be notified promptly, and repairs will be completed at no cost. The company emphasized that the recall is a critical step to ensure rider safety and maintain customer trust.
