The EPFO is making such services completely hi-tech through its new digital system, EPFO 3.0. Now, mistakes can be corrected online from the comfort of your home, so that if needed, the claim amount can be instantly transferred to your bank account. Let's explore the new changes and how you can keep your profile up to date...
Why does mistake in name and date of birth in EPFO become a headache?
It's common for an employee to change jobs or apply online for a PF withdrawal to face rejections. The most common reasons for this are mismatches in the name spelling between the PF record and the identity card, mismatches in the date of birth, or discrepancies in the date of joining or leaving the job. Under EPFO 3.0, the system has been moved to a cloud-based IT platform, eliminating the need to fill out physical forms to correct these errors. Members can now log in online and submit correction requests.
How to update records in PF account online?
- Visit the official EPFO member portal and log in by entering your UAN and password.
- Go to the top menu and click on the 'Manage' tab and select the 'Modify Basic Details' option.
- Fill your correct name, date of birth and necessary identity card details.
- Verify the entered information and submit the request.
- After this your company (employer) will approve it digitally and the record will be corrected in the EPFO system.
EPFO 3.0: What are the major changes?
Auto-settlement up to ₹5 lakh: No more waiting for emergency PF advance withdrawals. The system will automatically approve claims up to ₹5 lakh quickly, without any human intervention.

Freedom from paperwork: The process of record changes and claims is being completely digitalized.
