Following the 56th GST Council meeting, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced reforms that impact the automotive sector. Small cars with petrol engines up to 1200 cc or diesel engines up to 1500 cc and measuring less than 4,000 mm in length are now subject to only 18% GST, making them more affordable. Luxury cars, on the other hand, have moved to a higher tax bracket of 40%, though the cess on cars has been removed.

Among Tata’s offerings, the Nexon SUV gets the maximum benefit, with savings of up to ₹1.55 lakh. Other models like the Safari (₹1.45 lakh), Harrier (₹1.4 lakh), and Tata Punch (₹85,000) also received GST-related price cuts.
