Eight states of north-west and central India from Jammu and Kashmir to Madhya Pradesh are in the grip of severe heat wave. The entire north India including Delhi-NCR is boiling in the fire pouring from the sky. After the scorching sun during the day, there is no relief from the heat even at night. Humidity has increased the sting of the heat. On Monday, the temperature in Delhi-NCR reached 44 degrees Celsius, but the heat was felt like 51-52 degrees. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for severe heat and heat waves till June 12. During this time, the mercury can cross 45 degrees Celsius along with humidity. The temperature has already crossed 45 degrees in many parts of Rajasthan.

According to the Meteorological Department, a heat wave is likely to continue in the plains of Jammu and Kashmir, most places in Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh till June 12, and many places in Rajasthan, Punjab and Chandigarh till June 13. The situation is such that the morning starts with a temperature of around 30 degrees. The temperature in Delhi was recorded at 27.6 degrees on Monday morning, while by afternoon it rose to 44 degrees Celsius. The heat index remained between 51 to 52 degrees Celsius, so more heat was felt. Surface winds are also likely to blow for the next four days. Due to dust storms, the air quality index has also reached 219, which falls in the poor category.
No relief even at night in Punjab, Haryana, UP, and Rajasthan
According to the Meteorological Department, severe heat will be felt even at night in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Western Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan on June 10 and 11. Along with severe heat, humidity will also be felt in five states including West Bengal. There will be severe heat and humidity in Bihar, West Bengal, and Andhra Pradesh, while the weather will also remain hot and humid in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. Three army personnel have already died, while four people were injured.
Orange alert of heat wave in many districts
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert of heat waves for about 16 districts of western UP and NCR. Whereas, an orange alert of heat wave has been issued in 11 districts of Bundelkhand and Agra division. On Monday, the maximum temperature crossed 40 degrees Celsius in 22 districts of the state.
