Forced Marriage in Muzaffarpur: Boyfriend Caught with Girlfriend, Forced to Marry, Police Investigate

A startling incident has come to light from Muzaffarpur, where a minor boy who went to meet his girlfriend at night was allegedly caught by villagers, severely beaten, and then forcibly married to the girl. The boy's father has since lodged an FIR, accusing six individuals, including the girl's father, of kidnapping and forced marriage.

The incident occurred in a village under the Bariyarpur police station area. According to reports, a 17-year-old girl from the village was involved in a relationship with a boy from Patepur police station area in Vaishali district. Family members claim the boy is also underage. The couple was reportedly caught in a compromising situation late at night in the girl's village by her family members and other villagers.

Following their apprehension, the boy was allegedly beaten by the gathered crowd. Subsequently, the villagers, including the girl's family, proceeded to forcibly marry the couple.

Upon learning of the incident, the boy's father immediately approached the police station and filed a complaint, alleging his son's kidnapping and forced marriage. When police arrived at the scene to investigate, the girl's family members, who are also accused of involvement in child marriage, had reportedly fled the village.

Police have taken both the boy and the girl into custody for counseling. A case has been registered based on the boy's father's application, naming six individuals as accused. Authorities have stated that both the boy and girl are being questioned and provided counseling, while efforts are underway to apprehend all the absconding accused.
