Under the leadership of Indian coach Gautam Gambhir, Team India has set another shameful record in cricket history. First, a 3-0 whitewash in 2024, and now a 2-1 defeat against New Zealand, marking their first home defeat in 37 years. Team India is facing intense criticism from the cricketing world. The situation is such that the Indian team is now facing trolling not only from Indian cricketers but also from Pakistani cricketers. Former Pakistani players Kamran Akmal and Basit Ali severely criticized Indian captain Shubman Gill. Akmal and Basit went so far as to advise Gill to go to school. Both players discussed this on their YouTube channels, which have now become a topic of discussion on social media.
Comparison with Shan Masood
It should be noted that former Pakistan captain Shan Masood is known for making some of the worst decisions in Pakistani cricket history. Meanwhile, Akmal and Basit compared Indian captain Shubman Gill to Shan Masood. Speaking on the YouTube channel "The Game Plan," the two players said, "Gill has captained like Shan Masood." Basit made this comparison in light of Gill's preference for Nitish Kumar Reddy over Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja. Both raised several questions about Gill's leadership.
Gill is raw in captaincy
Kamran Akmal questioned Gill's captaincy, saying, "A captain should control the game. When you've taken early wickets, you should use your main bowlers to attack and take wickets as quickly as possible. If Gill had taken one or two more wickets at that point, New Zealand wouldn't have scored more than 250. Perhaps Gill is failing at captaincy." Akmal also questioned Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja's refusal to bowl after six overs each, despite Rana's leaking so many runs. Basit Ali even suggested that this could be Jadeja's last ODI.

Gill compared to Babar
Akmal didn't stop there, citing the hasty decision to give Shubman Gill the captaincy and comparing him to Babar Azam. Akmal said, "Pakistan cricket made a similar mistake in 2018 by handing the captaincy to Babar Azam. Gill should have been kept captain until at least the 2027 World Cup, and Rohit Sharma should have been allowed to learn. But the Indian management acted hastily."
