In this case, the patient's negligence over the past several years had resulted in the stone growing to such an extent. If there had been any further delay, the patient's condition could have deteriorated significantly and he could have suffered from gall bladder infection, abdominal pain and other serious complaints.
Doctors performed a rare surgery and removed 8,125 stones from the gall bladder of a 70-year-old patient. Doctors claim that this is the most number of stones removed. The patient was suffering from stomach pain, intermittent fever, lack of appetite and weakness for many years. He was also feeling heaviness in his chest.
The surgery lasted for an hour
During a program organized in Delhi, Dr. Amit Javed and Dr. Narola Yanger said that during the surgery that lasted for about an hour, the patient's years old problem was cured by removing the stone from the gall bladder in his stomach.
The patient was discharged after two days.
When the problem became serious, he was brought to a private hospital. On being admitted here, an immediate ultrasound of his abdomen was done which showed a lot of heaviness in his gall bladder. Seeing his condition, the doctors immediately performed a minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery and removed thousands of gallstones deposited in the gall bladder. This surgery lasted for about an hour and the patient was discharged from the hospital in a stable condition after two days.
Counting stones for hours
But, there was still a lot of work left after the surgery as the support team had to count the gallstones removed from the patient's gall bladder. After sitting for hours after the surgery, the team found that the number was surprisingly 8,125. Dr. Amit Javed said that this is a rare case. If gallstones are not treated, the number of stones keeps increasing gradually.
If there was any more delay, the danger would have increased.
In this case, the patient's negligence for the past several years was the reason that the stone had grown to such an extent. If there was any more delay, the patient's condition could have worsened and there could have been a serious complaint of gall bladder infection, abdominal pain. If treatment is not done in such a situation, pus starts forming in the gallbladder and the inner surface of the gallbladder also starts hardening and fibrosis can also occur in it.
