Good News for iPhone Fans: Apple’s Cheapest iPhone Likely to Launch This Month

Apple is reportedly preparing to launch its next affordable iPhone, the iPhone 17e, later this month. According to recent leaks, the budget-focused device could debut in February 2026, bringing select hardware upgrades while retaining a familiar design. If the information proves accurate, the iPhone 17e will become Apple’s most affordable offering in its current lineup.

February 19 Launch Date Tipped

A report from a German publication suggests that Apple may unveil the iPhone 17e on February 19, exactly one year after the launch of the iPhone 16e on the same date in 2025. The report indicates that Apple is unlikely to host a dedicated launch event for the device and may instead announce it via a press release, a strategy the company has used previously for incremental product updates.

Earlier reports had pointed to a first-quarter 2026 launch, and the newly leaked date aligns with that timeline.

No Dynamic Island on the Budget Model

In terms of design, the iPhone 17e is expected to closely resemble its predecessor. The device will reportedly retain the traditional notch, which houses the front camera and Face ID sensors. Earlier speculation suggested Apple might introduce Dynamic Island on its budget iPhone, but the latest leak has dismissed those claims.

By sticking with an older design, Apple is likely aiming to control production costs and maintain a lower retail price.

MagSafe Charging Support Expected

One notable upgrade could come in the form of MagSafe wireless charging. The iPhone 16e only supported standard Qi wireless charging at speeds of up to 7.5W. With MagSafe, the iPhone 17e could offer wireless charging speeds of up to 25W, significantly improving charging convenience for users.

New C1X Modem Promises Better Performance

The iPhone 17e is also rumored to feature Apple’s C1X modem, which was first introduced with the iPhone Air. According to Apple, the C1X modem offers faster network connectivity and improved power efficiency compared to the earlier C1 modem. This could result in better data performance and enhanced battery life.

Camera hardware is not expected to see major changes, with the device likely retaining a single rear camera setup, similar to its predecessor.

As the expected launch date approaches, more details about pricing and availability are likely to emerge. If launched as rumored, the iPhone 17e could strengthen Apple’s position in the competitive budget smartphone segment.
