If you are using Pixel 6a, then there is important news for you. Google has issued a warning about the problem of overheating the battery in some devices and is releasing a mandatory software update to fix it.
According to a statement shared with Android Authority, this problem starts after 400 full charge cycles. Then the phone's battery starts showing signs of wear, and to keep it safe, Google says that it will automatically reduce the battery capacity and charging speed through an update. Its job is to prevent the battery from getting too hot and causing a risk.
Only these users will have to update
This update is not for all Pixel 6a users, only for some devices, but Google will contact the affected users next month and share all the details.
The Pixel 6a, which was launched in July 2022, has been a favorite of many due to its great performance and affordable price. And with software support until July 2027, many users are still using it daily. But this news might make some people think twice about keeping it for much longer.
This isn't the first time a Pixel phone has faced battery issues. A few years ago, the Pixel 4a also faced a similar issue, leading to performance throttling, free battery replacements, and even an official recall in Australia.
