Google Pixel 10a Suddenly Becomes ₹6,000 More Expensive! Here’s Why the Price Has Jumped

Google has delivered a surprise to Pixel fans in India by increasing the price of its Pixel 10a smartphone by ₹6,000. The phone, which was launched earlier this year at ₹49,999, is now listed at ₹55,999 on Google's India Store.

The Pixel 10a was originally introduced in India in a single configuration with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. With the latest revision, buyers will now have to pay considerably more for exactly the same storage and RAM configuration.

Pixel 10a New Price in India

When the Pixel 10a launched in February, its starting price was ₹49,999.

Following the latest price revision:

  • Old price: ₹49,999

  • New price: ₹55,999

  • Price increase: ₹6,000

The price hike isn't limited to India either. Google has also increased the phone's price in the US market.

The 128GB model has reportedly gone from $499 to $599, while the 256GB version is now priced at $699.

Bank Offers Could Reduce the Effective Cost

Despite the price increase, buyers may be able to reduce the effective purchase cost through available bank offers.

Credit-card EMI transactions can offer instant cashback of up to ₹3,000, while no-cost EMI options are also available, depending on the offer and eligible bank.

The Pixel 10a is available in four colour options: Berry, Fog, Lavender and Obsidian.

Pixel 10a Display and Performance

The Pixel 10a features a 6.3-inch Actua pOLED display with a 1,080 × 2,424-pixel resolution.

The screen supports a 120Hz refresh rate and can reach a peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits. Corning Gorilla Glass 7i provides additional protection.

Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by Google's Tensor G4 chipset and includes the Titan M2 security coprocessor.

The device comes with 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. It runs Android 16 and carries an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

Dual Rear Camera Setup

Photography remains one of the key features of the Pixel series.

The Pixel 10a comes with a dual-camera setup on the rear, consisting of:

  • 48MP primary camera with OIS

  • 13MP ultra-wide camera with a 120-degree field of view

For selfies and video calls, there is a 13MP front-facing camera.

Google's computational photography and image-processing capabilities are also expected to play an important role in the phone's camera performance.

Why Has the Pixel 10a Become More Expensive?

The price increase comes amid rising costs for several smartphone components, particularly memory and storage.

One factor behind this pressure is the rapidly growing demand for AI infrastructure and data centres, which has increased demand for memory components. Higher component costs can eventually put pressure on smartphone manufacturers and influence retail prices.

Since the Pixel 10a's specifications have not changed alongside the price revision, the increase appears to be related to cost and pricing considerations rather than a hardware upgrade.

Is the Pixel 10a Still Worth Considering?

The Pixel 10a continues to offer a high-refresh-rate OLED display, Google's Tensor platform, a capable camera system, Android 16 and IP68 protection.

However, the ₹6,000 price increase changes the value equation for buyers. Anyone planning to purchase the phone should compare the current price with competing smartphones and check available bank discounts before making a decision.

For existing buyers who purchased the Pixel 10a at its launch price, the latest revision makes the original ₹49,999 launch price look considerably more attractive.
