Grand Preparations Underway for International Yoga Day: PM Modi to Lead Event in Visakhapatnam

The Government of India is gearing up for a grand celebration of the 11th International Yoga Day on June 21, 2025. This year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the main event in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, where he is slated to perform 19 yoga asanas over 45 minutes. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will also participate in the event. Meanwhile, the capital, Delhi, is also making extensive preparations for a large-scale celebration.

Union AYUSH Minister Pratap Rao Jadhav announced on Thursday that Prime Minister Modi's participation in Visakhapatnam will see approximately 5 lakh people performing yoga together.

Global Participation and Extensive Program Details:

Union Minister Jadhav further stated that participants from 40 countries are expected to join the Visakhapatnam program. This includes yoga teachers and trained individuals from 20 countries, along with students from another 20 countries residing in India. The event in Visakhapatnam is scheduled to run from 6:30 AM to 7:30 AM, with massive preparations underway to ensure its success and historic significance.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is reportedly very enthusiastic about the program and aims to transform it into a large-scale mass movement. To achieve this, the state government plans to launch one thousand yoga parks across Andhra Pradesh starting June 21, encouraging citizens to integrate yoga into their daily routines.

Delhi's Extensive Celebrations:

In the capital city, elaborate arrangements have been made for Yoga Day. The Morarji Desai National Yoga Institute will lead yoga sessions at 111 prominent locations across Delhi, including iconic sites like the Red Fort, Kartavya Path, and Lodhi Garden.

More than one lakh participants are expected to join simultaneously at these historic venues. Several agencies, including NDMC (New Delhi Municipal Council), DDA (Delhi Development Development Authority), ASI (Archaeological Survey of India), and MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi), are collaborating to ensure the event's success.

The Delhi government also plans to organize 10 major yoga programs in various parts of the city. Additionally, numerous smaller and larger yoga programs are being prepared by ministries, departments, and organizations within the National Capital Region (NCR).

With over 1,300 Yoga Sangams already registered in Delhi, the enthusiasm for Yoga Day is evident, indicating yoga's growing integration into the daily lives of people across all age groups and backgrounds. Union AYUSH Minister Prataprao Jadhav emphasized that this year's Yoga Day aims to be spectacular and memorable, with the government committed to spreading the benefits of yoga to everyone and promoting its adoption as a regular lifestyle practice.
