Jain called for urgent intervention from the Indian Embassy in the US and Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.

"I saw an Indian student handcuffed, crying and treated like a criminal at Newark Airport. He had come to fulfill his dreams, not to harm anyone. As an NRI, I feel weak and broken," Jain wrote.
