Donald Trump: Harvard University has filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration because earlier the administration had banned it from enrolling international students.
Donald Trump: Harvard University has sued the Trump administration after the administration earlier barred it from enrolling international students. Thousands of students were also warned that they would have to leave the US to maintain their legal status.
Before filing the suit, on 22 May, i.e. yesterday, Harvard University had revoked its Student and Exchange Visitor Program certification, which allows foreign students to enroll. Thus, the eligibility of foreign students at Harvard has been revoked. This decision of the Trump administration will affect the 6800 foreign students studying there.
What is the matter?
Actually, the Trump administration has made serious allegations against Harvard University. According to the report, it is being claimed that the activities of the Chinese Communist Party and anti-Semitism are increasing rapidly in the campus. The administration had sought information from the university about the students who protested violently. However, the information was not given by the university. After which the certification was canceled with immediate effect. This will affect the students who came on visa.
There are 788 Indian students among the 6800 foreign students studying in Harvard. A large part of Indian students are pursuing courses like data science, banking, finance and insurance, travel and accounting. Indian students whose courses are getting completed this month will get their degrees but those whose courses are not yet completed may have to take a transfer to another university.
However, students from India and other countries studying at Harvard still have a lifeline i.e. hope left. This lifeline is the letter given to Harvard University by the Trump government in which it is written that if the university accepts the conditions of the government within 72 hours, then the right to admission of foreign students will not be taken away.
