Delhi-NCR has witnessed a significant surge in demand for cardiac screenings this year, raising awareness about heart health, particularly among younger adults. According to a report by Mahajan Imaging & Labs covering January to August 2025, the region has seen a more than 30% increase in people opting for heart tests such as CT coronary angiography and treadmill testing (TMT). Echocardiography and other cardiac tests also saw a rise of around 10%.
Rising Health Awareness Among Youth
Kabir Mahajan, COO of Mahajan Imaging & Labs, noted that this trend is most prominent in the 25–45 age group. “People aren’t waiting until they feel unwell—they are proactively getting tested,” he said. Preventive procedures like TMT and CT coronary angiography are increasingly preferred as awareness about early detection grows.
Concern Over Sudden Cardiac Deaths
Dr. Harsh Mahajan, founder and president of the lab, highlighted growing anxiety over sudden cardiac deaths in young adults. This concern has motivated many to prioritize regular heart checkups, with early detection now taking precedence over treatment after symptoms appear.
CT Coronary Angiography Gains Popularity
The report points out that CT coronary angiography is becoming a favored screening method due to its low radiation and non-invasive nature, making it a reliable option for early diagnosis of heart conditions.
Experts believe that this shift toward preventive cardiac testing could play a critical role in reducing future heart-related illnesses, emphasizing the importance of awareness and early intervention.
