Risk of heart diseases

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), heart diseases are the leading cause of death globally today. In the last few years, there has been a rapid increase in cases of heart attack, especially among the youth. Heart attack occurs when the arteries (coronary arteries) that supply blood and oxygen to the heart get blocked. Due to this, the heart muscles do not get oxygen and the heart stops working.

How to know at home whether the heart is healthy or not?

For this, health experts have suggested some easy ways by which you can estimate your heart health. This is not an exact standard, however, it can definitely help in understanding the health of the heart.

Pulse rate

Place a finger on the inner part of your left wrist. Count the number of beats in 10 seconds and multiply it by 6. The normal heart rate is 60-100 beats per minute. If this rate is more than 110, then you should be careful.

Grip strength test

The strength of the grip of the hands indicates heart health. Weak grip may be associated with an increased risk of heart disease. Close the lid of any box at home tightly and then open it. If you open it, it can be a good sign.

Stair climbing test

If you climb about 60 stairs in 1 minute, then it is a sign of good heart health. On the other hand, if you feel tired or breathless after climbing a few stairs, then definitely consult a doctor about this.

Is your hand grip weak?

Scientists at the Austria-based International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis conducted a study to find out the strength of hand grip and the risk of diseases in the body based on it.

Scientists say that the weakening of hand grip depends on age, gender and height, however, if you are experiencing such a problem, then you need to be especially careful.

If your grip is weak compared to people of the same age and gender, then it can be considered a sign of heart disease problems. It can also be considered a sign of heart failure and problems in the normal functioning of the heart.
