Heavy Rain Alert: IMD Forecasts Thunderstorms and Rain Across Half of India

With the beginning of May, the heat has been overwhelming across many parts of India, but relief is on the way. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for thunderstorms, rain, and strong winds, which will bring a welcome change in the weather. According to the IMD, states across the country, from North to South India, are likely to experience moderate to heavy rainfall and strong winds today. This weather change is expected to lower temperatures, providing much-needed relief from the ongoing heatwave.

Key Weather Updates:

  • Northern and Eastern India: States like Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, and Jharkhand are expected to experience 30-40 km/h winds along with thunderstorms and rain. This will bring much-needed relief from the extreme heat.

  • Delhi-NCR: The skies will be cloudy with chances of light rain, resulting in a slight dip in the daytime temperatures.

  • Western and Southern India: In Maharashtra, especially along the coastal areas and Mumbai, thunderstorms and rain are likely. Similarly, parts of Karnataka, especially Bengaluru, and other southern states are expected to experience pleasant weather.

  • Hilly Areas: In hilly regions, there is also a possibility of cloudbursts and light snowfall, so travelers and farmers in these areas have been advised to exercise caution.

This change in weather is expected to offer a break from the intense heat, providing some relief to the people struggling with high temperatures.
