Who is the Blue Aadhaar card made for? It differs from the White Aadhaar card in that it does not contain biometric information, only the Aadhaar link of the parents.
1. How Blue Aadhaar Card is Different From White Aadhaar?
The Aadhaar card is the most important citizen identification document in India. The commonly seen white Aadhaar card is issued to adults and those over the age of 5. However, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) issues a special Aadhaar card for children under the age of 5, called the Blue Aadhaar card or Bal Aadhaar. It differs from the white Aadhaar card in several ways.
2. What is Blue Aadhaar Card?
The blue Aadhaar card, officially known as "Baal Aadhaar," is issued to children. It is light blue in color to distinguish it from the standard Aadhaar card. It serves as a primary identification card for children.
3. For whom is this card made?
This card is specifically designed for children under the age of 5. Once the child turns 5, it becomes temporarily invalid and must be replaced with a regular Aadhaar card through a biometric update.
4. What is the difference between blue and white Aadhaar card?
The most important part of the white Aadhaar card is the biometric information it contains (10 fingerprints and an iris scan).
The blue Aadhaar card does not include any biometric information. However, the white Aadhaar card contains complete biometric data.
Fingerprints and iris scans for young children are not static and constantly change, so biometric data is not collected for children under the age of 5.
5. This information is recorded in the blue Aadhaar
In the absence of biometrics, Baal Aadhaar records the following information to identify a child:
Child's photograph
Child's date of birth
Aadhaar number of one of the parents
This card is issued by linking the child to the parent's Aadhaar card.
6. How to apply?
The process for obtaining a Blue Aadhaar is simple.
Visit an Aadhaar center with the child's birth certificate and the Aadhaar card of one of the parents.
A live photo of the child is captured.
Since no biometrics are required, the process is faster.
7. When is the Baal Aadhaar card updated?
Even after converting a Baal Aadhaar to a regular Aadhaar, children are required to undergo two mandatory biometric updates.
The first mandatory update is upon reaching the age of 5 years.
The second mandatory update is upon reaching the age of 15 years.
This ensures that the biometric data recorded in the Aadhaar card remains accurate and up-to-date until adulthood.
