People suffering from diabetes have the urge to urinate more often than non-diabetic individuals. This is a major symptom of this disease, especially if you are urinating more than 7–10 times a day, or if your sleep is interrupted due to frequent urination at night, then this can be a warning. Let's know why this problem occurs and what is the way to avoid it.

Causes of frequent urination

Kidneys are affected when blood sugar increases. When the level of sugar in the body is very high, the kidneys try to expel it through urine. Glucose is excreted from the body through urine, which also excretes more amount of water.

These could be signs of diabetes

-Frequent urination (day and night)

-Feeling more thirsty

-Increased appetite but loss of weight

-Feeling tired

-Blurred vision

 What to do in case of frequent urination?

Get blood sugar tests done: fasting, postprandial and HbA1c tests

Also get a urine test done:  to check for infection or ketones

Consult a doctor if frequent urination persists

 How to control urination?

Eat a balanced diet like low carb, high fiber etc. Exercise regularly and take medicine or insulin on time. Avoid taking too much fluids at night. If you urinate more than 7–10 times and have other symptoms, contact a doctor immediately.
